Sarah B. “Sally” Forbes, 92 of West Newton died Sunday June 11, 2023 at Walnut Ridge Memory Care, Greensburg. She was born in McKeesport October 18, 1930 a daughter of the late Russell and Rose (Pawelezak) Wilson. She was a graduate of West Newton High School and worked as a nurse’s aid at McKeesport Hospital. During her husband’s twenty year career in the US Air Force Sally lived in Germany and was able to travel throughout Europe. After retiring from the Air Force the couple returned to West Newton. Sally was a huge country music fan and would send her favorite singer Hank Williams Jr many gifts by mail. She got a chance to meet and develop a friendship with the country star. In fact once Hank told her: ”Sally, you’re one of the best friends I’ve ever had”. Sally kept busy working, traveling, cleaning the house, going to church, visiting friends and relatives. She loved crocheting, word searches, bingo and watching horror and comedy movies. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles C. Forbes Sr, a son Charles C. Forbes Jr, a grandson Jesse C. Forbes and a brother Benjamin R, Wilson. She is survived by a daughter Rose Helen Forbes-Plymouth MA, her Aunt Helen Churilla, nephew Benny, and cousins Sheila and Kathy. Friends will be received at the J. William McCauley Funeral Home Inc. Wednesday June 14, 2023 from 9 until 11am followed by a service at the funeral home, interment to follow at West Newton Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contribution to Redstone hospice.
