Ruth M. Babilya, 96, of West Newton, died Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was born July 16, 1927 in Fitz Henry, a daughter of the late Joseph and Hilda (Blume) Ferno. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Some of her favorite times were spent creating memories on family vacations, preparing elaborate meals and purchasing the prefect gifts for all holiday celebrations, and cheering on the Steelers crowded around the TV with her family. Ruth loved singing and music and passed that love on to her family. Ruth’s beautiful singing along with her mother accompanying her on the organ could be heard preforming solos at church on Sundays and special occasions. Her kind, caring spirit deeply touched the hearts of many and will never be forgotten. She was a member of Holy Family Church, West Newton. Surviving are three children, Diana Fasnacht and husband, Jim, John T. Babilya and wife, Debora, and Jeff Babilya and wife, Colleen; eight grandchildren, Chelsea (Alex) Karabin, Ashley (Corey) Gill, Denise (Dan) Hughes, Scott (Mara) Babilya, Maria Fasnacht (Tyler), Quinn Fasnacht, Michael Babilya (Eva), and Paul Babilya (Carly); three great grandchildren, Elyse Karabin, Olivia Karabin, and Lucy Babilya; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Babilya, Sr.; sisters, Rita Ferno Bosetti and Elizabeth Ferno Brea; and brothers, Joseph Ferno and Richard Ferno. Friends will be received 6-8 pm Tuesday and 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday in Holy Family Church, West Newton. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
