Robert J. Moore, 80, of Lowber, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He was born September 28, 1942 in Lowber, 100 yards from his lifelong family home, a son of the late Steve and Anna (Kubic) Moore. A graduate of Sewickley High School, he played for the Sewickley Bison football team. An extremely hard worker, he had been employed by Westinghouse as a draftsman, worked as a coal miner, and in the metal manufacturing industry. Robert was an avid sportsman, fisherman and hunter, and had fond memories of hunting in Colorado with family and fishing in the Yough River. He enjoyed polka music, the family polka band, and local dances. A loving husband and father, he instilled sound morals and an extreme work ethic in all aspects of his family life. The best of what we are came from him. Surviving are his wife, Kay (Beam) Moore; two children, Kimberly Jo Burke, and Brian Scott Moore and wife, Vedette; a granddaughter, Sarah Jo Burke; a sister, Donna Ferris, a brother Gary Moore and wife, Chris; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald S. Moore. Friends will be received 12 – 3 pm Saturday, with a funeral service at 3 pm at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
