Robert M. Gabonay

Robert M. Gabonay, 82, of West Newton, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, with his loving wife and children by his side.  He was born December 24, 1938 in Wendel, a son of the late John and Margaret (Bizich) Gabonay.  Bob was a member of Holy Family Church, West Newton and treasurer of it’s Holy Name Society.  Over the years he was active in many organizations.  Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Marguerite “Rita” (Palmieri) Gabonay; three children, Robert Gabonay, Jr., Richard Gabonay and wife, Janet, and Renee Zemany; six grandchildren, Eric, Reno, Jacob and Abigail Gabonay and Michael and Nathan Zemany;  a brother, James Gabonay and wife, Barbara; brother-in-law, Joseph Sabljak; sister-in-law, Donna Gabonay; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Grace “Boots” Sabljak; brother, Joseph “Buzzy” Gabonay; and nephew, David Gabonay.  Family and friends may attend a Funeral Mass at 10 am Wednesday in Holy Family Church, 225 N 2nd St., West Newton.  Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church Holy Name Society or CORE, 204 Sigma Dr., Pgh., PA 15238.  Arrangements entrusted to the J.
