Robert Harry Doven, 80, of West Newton, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born May 13, 1941, son of the late Harry Joseph and Rose Margaret (Markle) Doven. Bob was known by everyone and was recognized everywhere he went. He spent a lot of time at Hogan’s Golf Course running the Swinging Jim Ride. Bob loved to cut grass and spent the summer on the lawnmower. He loved to ride his moped and did so until he was unable to balance it. As a lifetime member of First Baptist Church, where for some time he had perfect attendance. Bobby had some very bad times in the last 20 years, but he loved God and had a beautiful soul. He loved his family especially his nephew, Jeff. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marlyn Joan Doven; and brother-in-law, James Kite. Surviving are a sister, Rosemary Kite; nephew, Jeffrey Kite; and many cousins. Thanks to Heartland Hospice and Westmoreland Manor for the wonderful care and compassion they gave us. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Tuesday. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
