Richard C. “Skip” Bryner, 80, of West Newton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was born May 20, 1944, a son of the late F. Boyd and June (Russell) Bryner. Prior to retirement he was employed by Tooling Specialists in Lloydsville, and Elliott Company in Jeannette. Skip was also a longtime employee of the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, West Newton. He was a member and former chief of the West Newton Volunteer Fire Company. An EMT and paramedic, he was in the first class of paramedics in the state, scoring the highest in the class, and was formerly active with the West Newton Ambulance Service, as well as having conducted trainings at Westmoreland County Community College. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Kathleen (Scholl) Bryner; his daughter, Laura Bryner; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Ronald, and Jack Bryner; and sister, Kay McMurray. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Skip’s life will be held at 12:00pm Thursday, April 10, in the Le Grande Room, adjacent to Gary’s Chuck Wagon, 109 S. 2nd St., West Newton.
