Nicholas Holomshek

Nicholas Holomshek, 86, of Blythedale, died Monday, June 20, 2022.  He was born December 11, 1935 in Lowber, a son of the late George Holomshek, Sr. and Mary (Mellon) Holomshek.  Nick was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie.  He was also a member of the WMBU Club, American Legion, Local Laborers #1058, and a lifetime member of Elizabeth Township Fire Department #1 (Blythedale).  A Korean War veteran, he served in the Marine Corp.  Surviving are his wife, Janice (Chiesi) Holomshek; two children, Nicholas C. Holomshek and wife, Denise and Suzanne Downer and husband, William; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Zachary, Blayne and Ariann Downer, and Kristy, Stephen and Nicholas M. Holomshek; three great grandchildren, R.J. Theakston, and Cora and Kian Holomshek; a brother, Paul Holomshek and wife, Diane, and nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, George Jr., John, Frank, Charles and Carl Holomshek; and sisters, Ann Organ, Evelyn Bente, Sandra Wilson, Nancy Bone’ and Alice Smith.  Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton.  The family suggests that everyone wear a mask, but not required.  Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 am Tuesday in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie.  Interment with military honors will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  There will be a Parastas Service at 7 pm Monday in the funeral home.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
