Nicholas Holomshek, 86, of Blythedale, died Monday, June 20, 2022. He was born December 11, 1935 in Lowber, a son of the late George Holomshek, Sr. and Mary (Mellon) Holomshek. Nick was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie. He was also a member of the WMBU Club, American Legion, Local Laborers #1058, and a lifetime member of Elizabeth Township Fire Department #1 (Blythedale). A Korean War veteran, he served in the Marine Corp. Surviving are his wife, Janice (Chiesi) Holomshek; two children, Nicholas C. Holomshek and wife, Denise and Suzanne Downer and husband, William; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Zachary, Blayne and Ariann Downer, and Kristy, Stephen and Nicholas M. Holomshek; three great grandchildren, R.J. Theakston, and Cora and Kian Holomshek; a brother, Paul Holomshek and wife, Diane, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, George Jr., John, Frank, Charles and Carl Holomshek; and sisters, Ann Organ, Evelyn Bente, Sandra Wilson, Nancy Bone’ and Alice Smith. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. The family suggests that everyone wear a mask, but not required. Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 am Tuesday in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie. Interment with military honors will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
