Mary Pauline Shermar

Mary Pauline “Polly” Shermar, 99, of Greensburg, died Thursday, May 19, 2022.  She was born July 19, 1922 in West Newton, the daughter of the late Harry Shermar and Cordelia (Brill) Bland Shermar.  A retired employee of West Penn Power Company, she was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.  Polly was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensburg, P.E.O. Sisterhood, and Order of the Eastern Star.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Leonard and Stanley Bland.  She is survived by a distant relative.  Honoring Polly’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday in the Chapel of Redstone Highlands, 6 Garden Center Dr., Greensburg (Masks are required),  Private burial took place in West Newton Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 15 E. 2nd St., or the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, P.O.
