Mary Etta Kasic Obituary

Mary Etta Kasic, 79 of West Newton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Mary Etta was born on February 10, 1941 in Sewickley Township to Robert and Mary (Mason) McCune. Mary Etta graduated from Sewickley Area High School in 1959, and went on to attend college at Robert Morris University. Mary Etta was a member of the Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison. She spent most of her life employed at Sutersville Lumber Company in Sutersville, and Shuster’s Building Components in Irwin. Mary Etta was a loving and devoted mother first and foremost. She treasured her two children and embraced every moment with them. She never missed a single event her children participated in, logging thousands of miles traveling to every practice, game and school function. She worked tirelessly to turn every holiday and birthday into an event, assuring her sons would have a lifetime of unforgettable memories to look back upon. The highlight of her life was unquestionably the day she became a grandmother. She loved and cherished her four grandchildren more than life itself. Even as her health declined she never missed one of their plays, concerts, or games. Her favorite day or the week was Sunday, when she spent the afternoon playing games and making crafts with her grandchildren. To say her life revolved around her family would be an understatement. While it is often said some people are born to be teachers, doctors or lawyers, Mary Etta was put on this earth to be a mother and a grandmother. That was her calling in life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary, and a sister Janet Bargman. She is survived by two sons, Douglas, his wife Jennifer, and their two children, Shayne and Sabrina, of Greensburg, and Drew, his wife, Misty, and their two children, Savannah and Andie, of Rock Hill, S.C. Services are private.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Westmorland County Food bank in Mary Etta’s name would be appreciated.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
