Mary Risko, 78, of White Oak, formerly of Smithdale, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. Mary was born September 20, 1944 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late John and Ruby Salopek. A 1962 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, she was retired from CoGo’s. Mary loved her family, talking politics, and playing games on her IPad. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nick. Surviving are sons, Scott of White Oak, and John (Michelle) of Rostraver; grandchildren, Rex, Max, and Riley; brothers, Mark Salopek of Tennessee, John (Val) of Smithdale; sisters, Barb Jones of Virginia, and Rose Rupert of Wisconsin; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 11 am Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. Burial will take place in West Newton Cemetery. Scott and his family would like to personally thank Bridges Hospice for the wonderful treatment his mother and their sister.
