Maria (DiBartolo) Peebles

Born in Gela, Sicily, on May 19th, 1932 to Giuseppe DiBartolo and Gaetana Casciana, Maria DiBartolo Peebles died on January 8th, 2020. Maria passed in the comfort of her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.  Maria was the widow of the late Robert B. Peebles, married for 63 years. Maria and Robert wedded in Italy and came to the United States in 1955; their journey together would have just begun, along with a life of dual citizenship for Maria. Their family quickly began to grow, all while Maria adapted to her new life in the United States. Maria resided in West Newton, Pennsylvania, taking many frequent trips to Italy to visit her brothers Salvatore and Franco (and their wives Pina and Maria), along with many immediate and extended family members. Maria was devoted to her family, church, and missionary work. She enjoyed traveling, visiting family abroad, cooking and hosting others in her home. Maria served at the Christian Center Church during the majority of her lifetime and traveled the world throughout her time involved in missions. Her zest for life, love for the Lord and for people would be her most profound quality. Maria was deemed the “centerpiece” of her family and will be greatly missed by many.  Maria DiBartolo Peebles is survived by her five children, Maria E. Greer, Rossella Minniti, Robert A. Peebles, Tina L. Berestecki, and Joseph J. Peebles. Along with her children, she is survived by several family members including her fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Maria on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 11am at Christian Center Church, 130 Charity Lane, Belle Vernon, Pa 15012.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhomes.com
