Madeline Fabian Lyon, 98, of Ruffsdale, died Thursday, May 26, 2022, at her home of 65 years that she and her husband built. She was born October 5, 1923 in Elizabeth Township, a daughter of the late William and Grace (Gephart) Werner. Prior to retirement she owned and operated Madeline’s Upholstery and Slipcovers. She no doubt is already building a house, starting a garden and doing truly what she does, anything she puts her mind to do. She approached every day with a freedom to do what she pleased with each day being an adventure to the task at hand to keep things running. Madeline was a member of the Croatian Club of Yukon, Seven Dolors Church and its Christian Mothers, and senior groups in Madison and Yukon. Her children learned to build and plant from their mom. Surviving are two children, Melissa Fabian and husband, Jules Yancey and Warren Fabian and wife, Keri; two grandchildren, Shane Fabian and Zachary Fabian and wife, Shayna; a great grandchild, Eli; a brother, James Werner; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Fabian; infant children, Lori Lee and Maria; and siblings, William, Mildred Arico, Charles, Wilbert, Paul, Ralph, and Oleda Shoemaker. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a funeral service will take place at 11 am Wednesday. Interment will take place in West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Audubon Society of Western PA, 614 Dorseyville Rd., Pittsburgh PA 15238 (aswp.org) or to dementia research.
