Laurie L. Dokish, 82, of West Newton, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at her daughter Kim's home in Latrobe, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born June 8, 1939 in Brownsville a daughter of the late Harvey and Bertha (Roop) Brashear. Laurie was a graduate of Rostraver High School, where she met her husband, whom she married five months later. She previously worked at West Newton Public Library. An avid reader, she loved nature, being outside, dancing and being the life of the party. Laurie was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother whose favorite pastime was spending time with her granddaughter. Surviving are three children, Debbie Dokish, Kim Szabo and Christopher Dokish and wife, Jen; a granddaughter, Lauren Dokish and fiancé, Joseph Reyes; a sister, Mary Healy; a sister-in-law, Nancy Brashear; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Dokish, Jr.; son-in-law, Steve Szabo; and siblings, Raymond Brashear, Doris Aldridge, Marie Steffy, Linda Grimm and George Cook. Friends will be received 2-7 pm Tuesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday.
