LaVerne (Johnson) Nickolls

LaVerne Nickolls, 94, of West Newton, died Sunday, January 3, 2021.  She was born June 29, 1926 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Gustaf and Margaret (Loeffler) Johnson.  Laverne enjoyed sitting outside, nature, and loved flowers, birds, and gardening. She collected recipes and loved to reminisce, and could remember all details of the past.  Surviving are five children, Linda Detman and husband, Clark, Joan Stachurski and husband, Ed, Thomas Nickolls, Mark Nickolls and fiancé, Linda, and Marlene Pearce and husband, James; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Nickolls; brother, Russell Johnson; sister, Audrey Riemenschneider; and grandson, Jason Detman.  Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.  Arrangements entrusted to the J.
