Kayla (Branthoover) Wessel

Kayla Rae (Branthoover) Wessel, a West Newton resident, passed tragically and unexpectedly on Wednesday November 17th. She was 29 years young and recently married to the love of her life John Wessel.  Kayla accomplished many things in her short time with us.  She attended Westmoreland County Community College where she obtained her Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound degree and was most recently employed there as the Director of the Ultrasound Program.  She also obtained a bachelor’s degree from Clarion University in Health Leadership. Kayla was a kind and gentle soul who loved helping people. In addition to her job she enjoyed fishing with her husband, visiting wineries with friends and sister, and absolutely adored her fur babies.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Arthur and Doris Malone.  She is survived by a large family, her loving husband, John Wessel; devoted parents, Scott and Diana Branthoover; and her beautiful sister, Kendra Branthoover; paternal grandparents, Howard and Verna Branthoover; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; who all loved her dearly.  Viewing will be held from 3-6 pm Saturday November 20th at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, followed by a private service for immediate family.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations in her memory to WCCC Educational Foundation to support the Diagnostic Medical Sonogram program.
