James L. Brown, 94, of Perryopolis, died Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was born January 13, 1930 in Smithton, a son of the late James and Mary Josephine (Danielson) Brown. James was a member of the Methodist Church of West Newton. Prior to retirement he farmed all of his life and also worked as a union carpenter for Brownsville Construction, Rust Engineering, William Garlick & Sons, and Randell Paul Contracting. Since retiring, he loved cutting grass and helping at his sons farm equipment business. Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie (Kimberly) Brown; sons, Kevin Brown and wife, Cindy, and James Brown and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Ashley Desko and husband, Josh, Caitlyn Luce and husband, Michael, Melissa Kacmar and husband, Jayson, and Matthew Brown; great grandchildren, Evelyn Desko and Andrew Kacmar; sister, Meredith Schuler; sister-in-law, Carole Brown; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Brown. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
