Jack D. Gibbons, Jr., 77, of West Newton, died on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. Born on January 9, 1947, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Jack D. Gibbons, Sr. and Dixie L. (Spitzer) Gibbons. Jack was a 1965 graduate of West Newton High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He retired from the Westinghouse Nuclear Operations Division in 2015, and was a recipient of the George Westinghouse Signature Award of Excellence in 2001, 2006, 2007, and 2011. During his time with Westinghouse, he had the opportunity to travel around the world, enjoying new adventures, and making many friends along the way. Closer to home, he looked forward to deer hunting season and his annual trips with the guys. Jack was a diligent record-keeper who loved following the accomplishments of his granddaughters. Jack is survived by two daughters, Sherri and Chris Fredlock and Courtney Gibbons and Scott Seanor; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Sara Fredlock, Christian, Olivia, Addison and Presley Seanor; a brother, Tim Gibbons and wife Margie; nieces and nephews; and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol A. (Zimmerman) Gibbons. Friends will be received at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St., West Newton, on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. Jack's family would like to thank the entire staff on the sixth floor of Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital for the care and kindness they provided.
