Irene J. (Tuomi) Zapp

Irene J. Zapp, 93, of West Newton, died Saturday, September 2, 2023.  She was born September 28, 1929 in Fairhope, daughter of the late Eno and Helen (Randall) Tuomi.  Irene was a graduate of South Hills High School in Pittsburgh and prior to retirement was employed by A & P in Charleroi and Kroger in Belle Vernon.  A member of West Newton Bible Students Ecclesia, she was devoted to God and her religious beliefs and will be dearly missed and eternally loved.  Surviving are four children, Kathleen Zapp (Michael Lapcevic), Valerie (Clayton) DeSantis, John (Valerie) Zapp, and Mark (Tiffani) Zapp; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces, Candy Glover and Diane Rimkus; sister-in-law, Joanne Tuomi; and her beloved dog, Lexi.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Andrew Zapp; and brothers, David and Donald Tuomi.  Thank you to Stephanie and Rob Short and the staff of TLC for the special and wonderful care given to Irene.  Stephanie was always there for her and treated her like family.  Friends will be received 6-8 pm Tuesday at the J.
