Gerald James Findley, 74, of San Antonio, Texas, died Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Pennsylvania, while visiting with family. Born September 20, 1945 in Sutersville, he was a son of the late Glen and Vivian (Addy) Findley. Gerry graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1965. He was a member of the Armed Services from October 1965 through 1967 during which time he was a member of the Army Band located at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in teaching from Trinity University in Texas. He retired from teaching art to deaf children at San Antonio School District and later retired from Northside Independent School district where he was an Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf. Gerry enjoyed drawing and painting, traveling, going to the beach each summer and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are a sister, Gail Goodfellow (John) of West Newton; sister-in-law, Deanna Findley of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and countless wonderful friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Findley; and his life partner of 45 years, Charles Sherman. He will always remain in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 am Saturday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St. West Newton. Private burial will be in West Newton Cemetery.
