George G. Elkins, Sr., 95, of West Newton, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025. He was born February 4, 1930, son of the late Clarence W. and Marie (Smiley) Elkins. George was a member of F&AM Tri County Lodge #252, First Church of God, West Newton, past president of West Newton Lions Club, member of Mon Yough Bowling League, and West Newton Golf Club. A veteran of the Air Force, he served during the Korean War. Prior to retirement he was employed by West Penn Power as a lineman and serviceman for 39 years. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Peters) Elkins; son, George (Lynne) Elkins, daughter, Diane (Bill) Perney; son, Steven (Rebecca) Elkins; grandchildren, Julie Watson, Katie Elkins, William Perney, Lauren Sharder, Danae Keefer, Tyler Elkins, Faith Smith, and Allyson Elkins; great grandchildren, Vincent and Olivia Sharder, Aubree Keefer, Rowan Keefer, and Andi Elkins; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved. Friends will be received 4-8 pm Tuesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St., West Newton, where a Funeral Service will, be held at 11 am Wednesday. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
