Esther Sterner, 94, of West Newton, died Friday, December 19, 2025. She was born September 30, 1931 in Sutersville, a daughter of the late David and Esther (Morrell) Knight. Prior to retirement she was employed by Bettis Laboratory in West Mifflin. Esther was a member of the First Church of God of West Newton, where she was the organist for over 60 years, and was an elder. Surviving are a step-son, Clark Sterner; a special niece, Karen Knight; close friend Pastor Beth Dunlap; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Sterner; brother, Willis Knight; and sisters, Agnes Reynolds, Dorothy Knight, and Emma Jane Knight. Friends will be received 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday in the First Church of God, 157 N 2nd St., West Newton, followed by a service at 1 pm. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
