Edwina (Upton) Davis

Edwina “Winnie” Davis, 78, of Smithton, died Thursday, February 04, 2021.  She was born February 26, 1942 in Little Summit, a daughter of the late Clarence and Alberta (Helms) Upton.  Winnie was a member of West Newton United Presbyterian Church, where shad had been very active.  A 1960 graduate of Dunbar High School, she enjoyed painting, bowling, traveling, and playing cards with friends.  She volunteered at Smithton Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.  Surviving are her husband of 55 years, David Davis; three children, Wendi Vukson and husband, Ray, of Portersville, Kelly Popovec and husband, Doug, of Slippery Rock, and Steve Davis and wife, Lori, of Howard; grandchildren, Benjamin, Isabella and Nathaniel Vukson, and Alexandra and Douglass Popovec; and a sister, Ellen Yeskey and husband, Michael.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Johnson.  Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton.  Masks must be worn and social distancing be maintained.  The amount of people permitted in the funeral home at once is 40, so please limit your visit out of respect for others.  Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West Newton United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 314, West Newton, PA 15089.  A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Arnold Palmer Cancer Center, Mt.
