Edward L. Brunella, 93, of West Newton, died Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born March 25, 1928, son of the late Ludwig and Laura (Kontur) Brunella. Prior to retirement he was employed by Bell Telephone for 43 years, and was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. Ed was also a member of West Newton United Presbyterian Church, Blythe Lodge No. 593 F & AM, LOOM #31 and VFW Post 7812. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the US Army. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Daryl L. (Nicholls) Brunella; two sons, Jay Brunella and wife, LuAnn and Gary Brunella and wife, Jean; two grandsons, Adam Brunella and wife, Amy and Eric Brunella and wife, Sarah; a granddaughter, Alyse Eyssautier and husband, Sean; great grandchildren, Charlie, Bodie, Paige, Oliver, Graham, and one due in June; a sister, Stella “Dolly” Cadman; sister-in-law, Linda Shoaf and husband, Bob; nephews, Joel and Jared Shoaf; and other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Theis, Lorana Locke, Marie Altamire and Sue Blasko. Friends will be received 6-8 pm Wednesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday. Please follow CDC guidelines and respect the limit on attendance.
