Dorothy L. (Magill) Matty

Dorothy L. Matty, 93, of West Newton, died Tuesday, August 16, 2022.  She was born September 4, 1928 in West Newton, a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Vero) Magill, Sr.  Dorothy was a member of Sewickley Presbyterian Church.  Prior to retirement she was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone, and worked at Sherbondy’s Store in Turkeytown and Hobby Horse in Mendon.  Surviving are her sons, Terrence Matty, Timothy Matty and wife, Robin and Thomas Matty and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Joseph Matty and wife, Carlie and Jennifer Gephart and husband, Chad; great grandchildren, Aubrie, Thomas and Josie Matty and Paisley, Piper, Chasey and Charlotte Gephart; sisters, Mary Greenawalt and Daryl Shaw; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Matty; brothers, Ralph Magill and John Magill II; and sisters, Helen Troup, Elsie Brundage, Ruth Jane Manown and Joyce Hall.  As per her wishes, there will be no visitation.  Family and friends may attend a graveside service at 11 am Thursday in Mill Grove Cemetery, Branthoover Road, West Newton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 260 Bells Mills Road, West Newton, PA 15089.  Arrangements entrusted to the J.
