Dolores (Dayner) Bubin

Dolores Bubin, our dearest mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sadly passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family.  Dolores grew up in Belle Vernon and Rostraver, and graduated from Rostraver High School.  In her younger years she was known as “Tilly” and later in life as “G.G., for great grandma.  She met her husband, John Bubin, who was from Donora, at a dance hall.  Her first job as a teen was at Aunt Rita’s dairy farm, and then worked at a movie theater concession stand.  Later she was a stenographer in downtown Pittsburgh.  Dolores was always there for her family, offering love and support.  She went through life partially blind while she worked and raised her family.  In the last year she became completely blind and deaf.  She enjoyed watching TV, her favorite program being Golden Girls.  Her favorite movies were Dr. Zhivago and The Sound of Music.  She loved all kinds of music and especially loved dancing, which she and her husband did weekly, so her family referred to her as the “Dancing Queen”.  Her hobbies included gardening, decorating the house, and going antiquing and to fairs and festivals.  She frequently visited Twin Lakes and Ohio Pyle and volunteered for many years at friends, thrift store in Export.  Her last days were spent listening to music, eating chocolate pudding and candy, and asking for champagne.  Surviving are nine children, Barry Bubin (Janet), Barbara Bubin Uniatowski (Ed), Jeff Bubin, Debra Bubin-Harah (Bob), Douglas Bubin (Teresa) Richard Bubin, Phillip Bubin, John Bubin, and Lorie Bubin Bockius; 29 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; a sister, Gloria Kretchen (Steve); and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary (Kuma) Dayner; her husband, John Bubin; brother, Ralph Dayner, Jr.; nephew, Mark Dayner; aunts, Ann and Rita Sabo; and a son-in-law, Tom Bockius.  Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St., West Newton.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday in St. Barbara Catholic Church, 111 Raymaley Rd., Harrison City.  EVERYONE WILL MEET AT CHURCH.  Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
