Denver Swope, 70, of RuffsDale, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 16, 1949 a son of the late Betty Jane (Swope) Germock and raised in Smithdale. Prior to retirement he was employed in the security field. While serving in the Army during Vietnam, he was an amateur boxer. Denver was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a diehard sports fan, especially the Steelers and boxing. He loved coaching, cooking, and oldies 50s & 60’s doo-wop music, which he loved singing along with. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Joyce (Mihalko) Swope; daughter, Fawn Gray; grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Shealey Gray, Zane (Kali) Gray, Kayden Hinerman, and Marley and Cameron Augustine; and great grandchildren, Liza and Eden Gray; son, Shane (Krystle) Swope; grandchildren, Shane “Super” Swope, Jr., Issac Swope, and Joyrayne “Bella” Swope. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by grandparents, Earl and Minnie Swope; and uncles, Fred “Fritz” Swope and Duane Swope, who all raised Denver.
