Dennis Keith Balko, 69, of Smithton, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022. He was born February 26, 1952, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Zapp) Balko. Prior to retirement, Dennis was a teacher at West Newton Elementary for 35 years. He was a member of the Marconi Club in Smithton. A longtime youth baseball umpire; he was a folk artist, handyman and caregiver to many. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Diane (Regotti) Balko; sons, Nick Balko and wife, Eliza Sparacino and Tony Balko and wife, Rina; granddaughters, Hila Rose Balko and Meta Lee Balko; brothers, Kevin Balko, Doug Balko and wife, Kathy, and Craig Balko; brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen Balko, Terrie Balko, Rick and Debbie Regotti, Peggy and Martin Frye, and Kevin and Karen Regotti; 18 nieces and nephews; and 11 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Terry and Ken Balko; sister, Lori Cyktor and husband, Jeff; and his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Hila Regotti. A Memorial Visitation will be held 2-4 pm, Saturday, February 26, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 pm at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton.
