Known for her infectious laughter and big smile, Darla Crise, 81 years, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida. Born in West Newton, daughter of Beverly (Bleauer) and John Gabersek. Preceded in death by husband Wayne Allen Crise, the love of her life. They were truly a match made in Heaven and are dancing together once again. She treasured time with her grandkids and loved being their Mema, never failing to play a game, have a secret cupboard full of toys, and load their Christmas stockings every year. Christmas was by far her favorite holiday! Darla loved family gatherings, spending time with friends and neighbors, having tea and playing cards. Though she tried on numerous occasions, none of her children ever mastered Canasta. Everyone who knew Darla knew she loved birds, hummingbirds especially, her flower gardens, and crafts she could scheme her husband into making for her. She loved trying new recipes and never learned to cook in small amounts. Family always went home with containers of leftovers every time. Though her husband Wayne loved roller coasters, her favorite was to ride the Whip or the Turtles at Kennywood. We could not have asked for a better Mom (Mema), and we will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Survived by son, Kenneth Crise and wife Cheryl, and daughters, Wendy Cosentino and husband Paul, Jody Berbach and husband Keith Sr., and Tricia Cousino; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and twin brothers Dean and Dale Gabersek. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, Sept. 12th with a service at 11am on Friday, Sept. 13th at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. Interment will follow at West Newton Cemetery. Donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association in Darla’s name at https://www.alz.org.
