Catherine M. Vay, 96, of Lowber, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born December 21, 1925 in Lowber, daughter of the late John and Anna Rose (Rosso) Moncalvo. Catherine was the owner of the former Bob’s Place in Lowber. She was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver. An avid sports fan, she loved her family and friends. Surviving are a son, Keith Vay and wife, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Edie Vay; grandchildren, Kelly Vay, Kim Vay, Jeffrey Vay and wife, Brandy and Amy Freeman and husband, Ron; great grandchildren, Jaiden Vay, Cole Vay, Nicholas Freeman and Dessa Freeman; Goddaughter, Georgean McCarthy; and niece, Lois Kretchen and husband, Greg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vay and son, Allen Vay. Friends will be received 4-8pm Monday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday in the Church of St. Anne. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anne Home for the excellent care.
