Bryan R. Lash, 88, of West Newton, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022. He was born August 25, 1933 in Turkeytown, son of the late Rufus and Zella (Hough) Lash. Bryan served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of LOOM #31, VFW Post 7801 and American Legion Post 401, all of West Newton; and the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation. Surviving are a daughter, Judy Backus of West Newton; granddaughter, Kimberly Chilzer and husband, Jayme, of RuffsDale; grandsons, Charles R. Byrne and wife, Daniele, of Wyano, James F. Tuman and wife, Anitre, of Savannah, Georgia and Peter Hogan and wife, Kim, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; great granddaughters, Katelyn Chilzer and Kaley Byrne; great grandson, William Chilzer; niece, Leslie Dawson and husband, Bill, of Centerville, Virginia; and great nephews and niece, Bryan and Jennifer Gamble and Matthew and Mark Dawson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” (Victor) Lash; son, James F. Tuman; sister, Norma Jean Gamble; nephew, Wes Gamble; son-in-law, Dennis Backus; and aunt, Gail E. Hough. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 am Saturday. Interment will follow in Mill Grove Cemetery, West Newton.
