Barbara J. (Squires) Scalercio

Barbara J. Scalercio, 76, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, July 4, 2026.  She was born October 31, 1949 a daughter of the late Henry and Edna (Crise) Squires.  Barbara was the kind of person who asked for very little, never wanting to “pester” anyone. She was the kind of person others could always rely on. No matter what, she was always there. In a lot of ways it felt as though she always would be. Perhaps we sometimes took her for granted in that way, but she didn't care. She was always just happy to help.  Barbara achieved everything she meant to; a family, a home, pets, careers. She was fulfilled. And when her diagnosis originally came twenty one years ago, she had already made peace with the way things were leading. But she was able to spend the time she had left watching her grandchild grow up. She spent it creating art, bowling, playing bingo, making friends. She chose to spend the rest of her life truly living.  The night she passed, she did so comfortably, in her own home, with loved ones by her side. She was ready, she was happy, and she was done. We don't think she would have asked for anything more.  Surviving are a daughter, Kari King and husband, Jason; a grandchild, Darwin Kress; step grandchildren, Melina and Julian King; a sister, Henrietta Doyle and husband, Ernie; nieces and nephews, David Stoner, Holly Doyle, Michele Spellman, Veronica Payne, Barbie Mino, and Jaimee Doyle; and her beloved Golden Retriever, Lily.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Scalercio; and sister, Norma Stoner.  In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. She requested that her family get together for a meal to honor her, so at a later date a Celebration of Life will be organized for that purpose.  In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made to the animal charity of your choice for the sake of honoring Barbara’s love for animals.  Thank you to everyone for your time and donations.  Thank you Grandma for always being there, you will be missed more than you will ever know.  Arrangements entrusted to the J.
