August P. White, Jr.

August “Whitey” White, Jr., 83, of West Newton, passed away May 29, 2023 at home, with his wife and son by his side.  He was born April 10, 1940 in McKeesport, a son of the late August and Rose (Bondi) White.  Prior to retirement he was employed by West Newton Borough.  Whitey was a member of West Newton Presbyterian Church and served in the Army Reserves.  He enjoyed trapping, fishing, and was an avid hunter with his hunting buddy and nephew, Art Hoak, Jr.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Sally (White) Hoak.  Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ruth (Kuno) White; son, Brian White, and daughter, Lauri (White) Cuthbert and husband, Don.  He was a beloved uncle to all his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and a great friend.  Friends will be received 6-8 Thursday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday.  Interment will be in West Newton Cemetery.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
