Andrew B. Chopp

Andrew B. Chopp, 99, of Sutersville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born June 1, 1922 in Sutersville, a son of the late John and Barbara (Lesso) Chopp, Sr.  Andy was a 1941 graduate of Sewickley High School.  Prior to retirement he was employed by Consolidated Coal Company for over 40 years.  A life-long Catholic, he was a member of Holy Family Church, West Newton and its Holy Name Society.  He served as a sexton for the former St. Charles Church in Sutersville.  A man of great faith and prayer, he was a good and generous father to all.  Surviving are five children, Barbara Jarmon, Rita (Mike) Pruni, Coleen Martz, Terry (Rebecca) Chopp, and Brian (Deborah) DeClaudio; daughter-in-law, Paula DeClaudio; son-in-law, John Lubinsky; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Taylor) Chopp; his second wife, Margaret “Peg” (Massung) Chopp; children, Andy Chopp, Pamela Chopp, Wayne DeClaudio, and Kathy Lubinsky; a grandson; and sons-in-law, Cecil Jarmon and Roger Martz; siblings, John Chopp , Anna Huss, Mary Skutt, Irene Rozak, Joseph Chopp, George “Sarge” Chopp, Pauline Kezmah, Evelyn Chopp, Steve Chopp and Andrew Chopp.  Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12pm Saturday in Holy Family Church, West Newton.  Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to a local food bank.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com.
