Alfred E. Thorne, 90, of Gratztown, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was born January 29, 1933 in Gratztown, a son of the late John and Emma (Linhart) Thorne. Prior to retirement he was employed by Tube City Iron & Metal for 43 years. Alfred was a member of Wesleyan Nazarene Church of West Newton and was an avid Christian man. He enjoyed camping and his joy and passion was singing Gospel Quartet. Surviving are his wife, Reta A. (Herbert) Thorne; children, Terri (Brent) Garrick, Dwayne (Sheri) Thorne, Tracey (Scott) Lane, and Larry (Jaci) Thorne; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexander, Andrew, and Alyse Thorne, Emily (Austin) Rowland, Logan (Caysi) Thorne, Zachary (Kayla) Thorne, and Gabrielle Thorne; and a great grandchild, Noah. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandsons, Michael Garrick and Nathan Thorne; sisters, LaRue Crotti and Shirley Sieckowski; and brother, John Thorne. Services will be private.
