William Lapitsky Obituary

William “Bill” Lapitsky of Elizabeth went to be with his Lord on December 19th, with his wife Janice at his side.  Bill had a sudden but brief bout with pancreatic cancer.  Born April 5, 1937 and grew up on Neville Island.  His parents Michael and Elsie Lapitsky, both deceased.  Bill is survived by his loving wife, Janice; sons, Matthew (Baltimore MD) and Andrew (San Rafael CA) and his wife, Jennifer, their sons, Willem (13) and Quinton (13); and brothers, Michael and James, both of Tallahassee, FL.  Bill went on to graduate from Penn State University in 1960.  After graduating, he entered the Army Reserve Program and moved to Lancaster, where he married Jaquelynne Myers in 1961.  After several career moves in sales and marketing, Bill and his wife moved to Harrisburg where he established himself in the restaurant industry and would spend the major part of his working career as an owner/operator of seven Red Barn franchised restaurants.  Bill was very active in his community including St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral where he served on several committees besides being a Lay Reader and a Lay Eucharistic Minister.  He served for 25 years on the Board of Directors of the General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.  He was an officer at the PA Restaurant Association for several years.  Bill is most proud of his service and activities with the restart of the Christian Businessmen’s Connection in 1984.  He, together with Serb Hill, Charlie Jones, and several others, reconstituted the local chapter for CMBC.  Bill enjoyed the challenges of the golf game and viewed it as a work in progress.  He leaves this life with no regrets.  Bill married Janice in 2012 after the death of Jackie in 2010 and moved to Elizabeth with Janice.  Bill and Janice had a long time relationship dating back to high school.  They both view their relationship as the culmination of a master plan from the past.  They have a residence in Ft. Myers, FL, where they spend their winter.  A Memorial Service will be held at Journey By Grace Methodist Church of Belle Vernon, on Friday, January 3rd, at 10 am.  Inurnment will be held in the columbarium at St Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg, at the convenience of Janice.  Please be assured that all your prayers and well wishes are warmly and appreciatively received.  Arrangements entrusted to the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, West Newton.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhomes.com
