Ronald E. Wells, 74, of West Newton, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at home.  He was born April 20, 1943 in Indiana, a son of the late Delbert D. and Nellie (Longenecker) Wells.  Ron was married for 51 years to his high school sweetheart, best friend, and soulmate, Daryll Lee (Geary) Wells.  In addition to his wife, surviving are his beloved children, Carrie Burger and husband, Chris, of Collegeville, and R. Brock Wells and wife, Alyssa , of Hempfield Twp.; four grandchildren, Miles and Thane Burger, and Xavier and Alex Wells; three siblings, Janet Jones and husband, Gilbert, of Ohio, Dale “Spike” Wells of Virginia, and Cheryl Gearhart and husband, Gary, of Homer City; a sister-in-law, Kathy Weaver and husband, Darwin, of New Jersey; and his devoted dog and friend, Duci.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Wells and Sandra Gaston.  Ron graduated from Blairsville Joint High School and served four years in the US Marine Corps.  He worked in the coal industry as a Superintendent of Maintenance (Chief Electrician) for R & P Coal Co. and retired from Consol Energy.  He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Stanton; the Marine Corps League, Rolling Rock Division; F & AM Indiana Lodge 0313; VFW Post 5821; American Legion; and the NRA.  While living in Derry, he spent many years coaching midget football and junior wrestling.  Ron was an avid sportsman, loving to hunt, trap shoot, camp, and mule ride.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  Friends will be received 6-8 pm Monday and services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at the J.
