Richard E. Mencer, 77, of South Huntingdon Township, died Monday, June 5, 2017. He was born August 10, 1939 in Greensburg son of the late George and Dorothy (Sherbondy) Mencer. He was member of Bible Alliance Church, West Newton. Prior to retirement he was employed by Westmoreland County, was an owner of Imperial Specialties of RuffsDale, and had been employed by FABCO of West Newton. Having been an athlete many years of his life, he was an avid sports fan. Richard was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed making memories at camp. He loved spending time with his family and sharing stories with his grandchildren, as well as spending time with his dogs, Rebel and Rascal. Surviving are five children, Lynn Lodge and husband, Kevin, of Sache, Tex., Jeff Mencer and fiancé, Anna Olson, of Homer City, Alan Mencer and wife, Patricia, of Plymouth, Ill, David Mencer and wife, Cariann, of RuffsDale, and Richard Mencer and wife, Tracie, of Eaglesville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Audrey (Jeff) Foster, Jamie (Anthony) Camp, Cody, Austin (fiancé Emily), Morgan, Dylan, Justin, and Jessica; and great granddaughter, Addlyn Foster. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patricia (Naples) Mencer; his first wife, Sheila (Van Fleet) Mencer; a grandson, Theodore “Skip” Cawoski; and a sister, Shirley Novak. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8pm Thursday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 901 Vine St. West Newton, and from 10-11 am Friday at which tine services will be held, at the Bible Alliance Church, 1300 Mt. Pleasant Rd., West Newton.
