James V. Toscano, 69, of West Newton, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, due to complications from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam. He was born August 5, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant a son of the late Gardner “Tussy” Toscano and Josephine (Nader) Toscano. A Marine Corps veteran, he served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Jim was a barber for 50 years and was the 8th generation barber in his family. A leader in the hair replacement industry as a designer, educator, and inventor, he traveled to China, Korea and all over the United States educating salon owners and their staff. Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Linda Toscano; children, James G. Toscano (Danielle), Patrick Connors (Courtney), Daniel Toscano (Toni), and Gina Lash (Scott); grandchildren, Selena, Vincenzo, Donovan, Finnegan, Allena, Zachary, and Izabella; step sisters, Kathy, Kris, Karol, and Kim; sister-in-law Karyn Toscano, mother-in-law, Margaret Hutchko, nieces, Sarah, Lindsay, Karri Ann, and Johanna; nephews, Jeremy, Stephen, Paul, Jaron, Rob, and Joseph. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Toscano. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St. West Newton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Church, West Newton. Interment with military honors will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
