Henry G. Maksim, 94, of Collinsburg, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was born April 16, 1924 in Hill Station, a son of the late George and Pauline (Poprich) Maksim. Henry served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Prior to retirement he worked as a welder and a coal miner. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed his camp in Potter County. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Henry “Butch” Maksim and Terry Maksim and wife, Andrea; four grandchildren, Eric Maksim, Melissa Risko-Intrepido and husband, Patrick, Ryan Johnson and husband, David, and Ian Maksim; four great grandchildren, Luca Intrepido and Zack, Porter, and Emme Johnson; and two sisters, Sylvia Tedrow and Rose March. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Mae (Oblak) Maksim; daughter, Donna Risko; sister, Marlene Hall; and brother, John Maksim. Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, 901 Vine St. West Newton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 am Saturday.
