Harry William Glaser
January 13, 1926 ~ October 23, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years OldHarry William Glaser, 91, a longtime resident of West Newton, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born January 13, 1926 in Buena Vista, son of the late Harry J. and Stella (Wilson) Glaser. Harry was a member of the 3rd Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. Upon honorable discharge he obtained his teaching degree from California University of Pennsylvania. He was an Industrial Arts teacher in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District for 33 years. Harry was an accomplished woodworker and was well known for his intricate inlaid card tables and monogrammed trays. Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sarah May Haidle Glaser, who passed away in June of this year; his sister Helen “Sis” Maurer; and his son-in-law, Dean Lowanse. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Lynn Lowanse; sons, Dr. Alan L. (Krista) and Harry W. II. In addition, he was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received 4-8 pm Friday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 901 Vine St. West Newton, where services will be held at 10 am Saturday. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to West Newton United Presbyterian Church or a charity of one’s choice.
