Evelyn Nolan Obituary

Evelyn Mae Nolan, 93, of Sutersville, died, Sunday, June 10, 2018 in UPMC East Hospital, Monroeville from complications with pneumonia.  She was an only child born June 7, 1925 in McKeesport, daughter to the late George “Bud” and Laura (Bernadowski) Field.  Prior to retirement she was employed by McKeesport Hospital as an escort.  She especially enjoyed walking the newborns out to the waiting parents.  Evelyn also worked at G. C. Murphy Company for many years.  She was a member of the former St. Charles Church of Sutersville and Holy Family Church of West Newton.  Evelyn was a member of the West Newton Center for Active Adults where she socialized and remained active playing cards, taking trips, enjoying the casino, lunching and bingo playing.  Evelyn wore out numerous pairs of shoes walking the trail with her dogs, most recently her beloved Shih-Tzu, Tiki.  She had a great sense of humor and was quick with one-liners.  Evelyn could be found on her porch most days reading or talking with friends and neighbors.  She loved her family most of all.  Surviving are two children, Kathy Negro and husband, Edward, of North Huntingdon, and Wade Nolan and wife, Hazel, of Derry; five grandchildren, Reed Nolan and wife, Candice, Cory Nolan and wife, April, Bess Nolan, Melissa O’Toole and husband, Dan, and David Negro and wife, Laurie; three great grandchildren, Bella, Adalyn, and Hunter Nolan, and expecting another soon.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James O. Nolan and a daughter, Karen A. Nolan.  Family and friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8pm Thursday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 901 Vine St. West Newton, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Friday.  Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.   If desired, memorial contributions may be made to White Oak Animal Safe Haven, 2295 Lincoln Way, White Oak PA 15131; or to the Pennsylvania Rails to Trails Conservancy (www.railstotrails.org).  Special thanks to the staff at William Penn Care Center for the loving care they provided for Evelyn these past few months.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com
