Dorcas Virginia Genemore, 93, formerly of West Newton, died Friday, October 13, 2017 in Albuquerque, N.M.  Born Dec. 1, 1923, in Purgettsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nettie Dent. She was preceded in death by her husband, Severin Genemore, in 1973; six brothers, Coleman, Alvin, Stanley, Robert, Loren and Richard Dent; two sisters, Leone Sirk and Delia Coughenour; and dear friend, Bill Galbraith. She will be sadly missed by her family, including three daughters, Donna Hofmann, and husband, Don, Colleen Pollock, and husband, Karl, and Victoria Soyka, all of Albuquerque; her six grandchildren, Christine Stempeck, David Hofmann, Lisa Estrada, Eric Pollock, Michelle Willis and Brandon Soyka; and her six great-grandchildren, Adam and Sara Stempeck, Hailey and Brayden Pollock, and Blake and Chase Grisvard. Dorcas retired from UPMC-McKeesport Hospital, where she last worked as a pharmacy technician. Dorcas was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, West Newton, and Court Miriam, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She loved to bake, often for weddings and special occasions. For many years, she worked at the local election polling sites and enjoyed ballroom dancing as often as three times a week. She was also an avid card player and belonged to various card groups. Moving to Albuquerque in 2015, Dorcas always held a special place in her heart for West Newton, where she so missed her family and friends in the community, at church and at Filbern Manor. Friends will be received 9-11:30 am Saturday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 901 Vine St. West Newton.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 pm in Holy Family Catholic Church, West Newton.  Condolences may be left at
