Philomena (DeNobile) Balenovich, 71, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016, the feast day of Saint Philomena, in Greensburg. She was born on October 5, 1944 in McKeesport. She was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Sarosi) DeNobile. Philomena graduated from Sewickley Area High School in Herminie in 1963 and was also a certified Emergency Medical Technician. She volunteered as an EMT, driver, and dispatcher and held the office as president of the West Newton Community Ambulance Service. She was a member for 18 years. She was a member of Holy Family Church in West Newton where she was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and a greeter. Philomena loved to go shopping with her daughters and to the casino, spending time with her dear friends, children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and gramma. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers James C. DeNobile, and an infant brother; and also by a beautiful granddaughter April Vanessa Manley in 2009. Philomena is survived by her husband John Dennis Balenovich. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 2, 2016. She is survived by three daughters, Denise (Michael) Manley of Sutersville, Renea (Mark) Oberdick of York and Diana (Michael) Stangroom of Belle Vernon; and one son, James Balenovich (Tricia Olschon) of West Newton. She is survived by her 6 loving grandchildren, Amanda Manley of Sutersville, Hunter, Morgan and Nathan Stangroom of Belle Vernon, Bryce and Shane Oberdick of York. She is also survived by two special cousins (like sisters) Patricia (DiVincenzo) Ancosky of Sutersville and Donna (Davanzo) Sarosi Magga of Wyano. She is also survived by many special friends, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and her dog Holmes. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-9 on Sunday and Monday at the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 901 Vine St. West Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
