Harry R. “Punky” Rees, III, 71, of West Newton, died Thursday September 22, 2016.  He was born September 17, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Harry R. and Marie (Willard) Rees Jr. Harry was a member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, were he was an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was also a former member of the First Baptist Church of West Newton, where he also had been a deacon and Sunday school teacher.  He was employed at Williams Ace Hardware Store in West Newton and previously employed at Office Equipment and Supply Company in Greensburg. Harry proudly served his country as a Marine Corps Sargent, during the Vietnam War. Formerly he was member the Lions Club of West Newton, and a Webelos leader with the Cub Scouts. His interests included building model ships and planes, leather work, kayaking, taking bagpipe lessons, and he had his private pilot license.   Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Sandy (Peairs) Rees; brothers, Robert Rees and wife, Faye, of Savannah, GA, Dennis Rees of Belton SC, Gene Rees and wife, Bonnie, of  West Newton; sister-in-law, Yvonne Montgomery and husband, Steve, of Lansdale; his beloved dogs, Gabby and Rudy; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and George Rees. Friends will be received 2-9 pm Tuesday at the J. William McCauley, Jr.  Funeral Home, Inc. 901 Vine Street, West Newton.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in Harmony United Presbyterian Church, Rt. 51, Rostraver Twp. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Harmony United Presbyterian Church.  Condolences may be left at http://www.mccauleyfuneralhome.com
